about

This song is based on the big unknown question of what lies behind our departure from life on this planet. It’s more the naivety of being scared and hoping that there isn’t a huge blank, that there is something that follows on. This is the first song I had written with a band format in mind; with its structure and instrumentation. It’s an oldie that is close to my heart and I’d only been able to play it as a full live performance once with an old project called ‘Fossils’ for a one off show – this one’s for Malcolm. I’d always had such a strong vision in my head of how this song was meant to sound as a recording so I had a prominent idea of everything that needed to be tracked and exactly how everything was to be played. It was such a great experience and a relief in a way to finally hear this back, achieving the mountainous sound I was looking for.

lyrics

Is it just me or is anyone else scared of the truth?
After I’m gone I wanna be content
Why can’t there be any proof?

Well some say we turn in to animals
Or that we arrive in another body

Well I hope that my ghost won’t be alone

No one knows do they know, are the scientists right?
Why can’t someone please just answer my thoughts
so I can sleep through each night?

Well some say we turn in to ghosts
Or that we become one of the stars
I don’t know where this life will take me,
where this life will go…

Well I hope that my ghost won’t be alone
