about

It’s short, bleak, unresolved and the lyrics are pretty raw and honest. It’s someone suddenly disappearing and not knowing why, then losing your own mind about not knowing why. Andrew had the great idea of the almost tribal low vocal humming in the second verse. This is my harmonium debut too. I was listening to a lot of Jon Hopkins around this time and used my Roland synth to create the slow attack pads and messed around manually with the cut-off filter. Nichola’s playing really hits the whole thing home for me.

lyrics

You’ve just vanished off the edge of my world
You’ve just vanished with no footprints
Well what went wrong? I would’ve done as you asked

But you’ve just vanished right out of my life
You’ve just vanished with no evidence
And now I’ve lost you like a grain of sand on the beach

Just give me the chance to find you
Give me the chance to reach
‘cos you’ve just vanished
You have.
