about

Wisdom Tooth is 5-piece Prehistoric Friends' 2nd single from forthcoming eponymous self-titled album.

To be released on 18th November, 2014 (via toothbrush/download)

Dream Pop / Casio-tone

Wisdom Tooth is a beatifully arranged, melodic and atmospheric pop song, touching on the pains of youthful energy going to waste and finding a way to pull yourself from the quicksand.

Whilst Chapman's soft and heartfelt vocals breeze and scotch-snap over solid organ chords, Kerr's smooth viola playing soars and complements with harmony and call & response. The track is driven by a vintage drum machine, later bursting out with full drums and Moog synths for the final climactic section.

Perhaps for fans of: Beach House, Youth Lagoon, Throw Me The Statue, Bon Iver, Fleetwood Mac.

lyrics

Another day pacing up and down an empty fitting room
When's this energy gonna come to some use?
Where's the use in this youth?

For now I'll wait here,
I'll wait here for now
...and although I don't want to,
It's all I'll let myself do

Another birthday with the same old resolutions,
arthritic pains breaking through my chakras
...and this wisdom tooth won't go away

They say "Everyone must make a living"
"Everyone must find their way"
but to me this life was made for living

But for now I'll wait here,
I'll wait here for now
and although I don't wait to,
It's all I'll let myself do.
