about

This song kinda sums up the album theme in a roundabout way; it’s easy to go through phases of wishing or dreaming you are at a better stage in your life and not knowing how to move upwards and develop yourself. It’s about discovering yourself and realising that being your own person is the most important thing. You have time to heal any pain from the errors you’ve made and the power to do whatever you want if you really put your mind to it. I feel this track has always been sitting on the verge of being complete cringe-worthy 80’s tackiness and I’ve been unsure whether it is socially permitted! I remember how embarrassed I was to play it to Nichola, let alone the terror I felt each time I played it to an audience…shaky keyboard fingers! I’d say that overcoming this and learning to not really worry about what people think mirrors the song theme in a way. Anyways, to be honest, who doesn’t love the 80’s?

lyrics

Don’t dream your life away
Dreams of someone you’re not
When being yourself is more

But how long?

You have a skeleton key
It can open any door
Take it to the secret cave in your head
And you’ll find the strength hidden there

But how long till I find this healing place?
